The Victor Khanye Local Municipality is situated on the Western highveld of the Nkangala District Municipality within the Mpumalanga Province. The municipality is strategically located in relation to the metropolitan areas of Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg. It is approximately 45 minutes drive from the O.R Tambo International Airport

Eskom is currently running a project worth R89 billion to build a coal fired power station.
